This recording is very special to me, because what you didn’t know was that we almost cancelled it the night before the recording. First Dominik Meier, the sound engineer that originally was supposed to record the performance fell terribly ill. It was this time when Covid had a comeback & many people in the audience also cancelled due to that. Luckily, we were able to find Claudio Cueni, a master engineer that happened to be in Switzerland from Los Angeles. Next thing was that Bruno and I both had a fever that day & we did not feel very well. In this aspect I truly admire Bruno. At his age, he still stays professional in every possible situation. Any other musician would have cancelled, but he said he wanted to play & so I had no other choice to go along with it. I am glad we did. Moments like this are very rare & I am so happy and feel privileged that Dot Time Records did record this fragile moment of music between two friends, almost 50 years apart in age. The friendship can be heard in this duo & the many recordings we did between 2021 and 2025 show the routine and very intimate interaction between the two artists.

I would like to thank Richi Irniger for his endless generosity of hosting me at his villa over the last 10 years. The Villa is very unique & so is its audience. A place like this will certainly be missed in Zurich, should it no longer exist. We keep the good spirits and vibes and will continue to make music, record music & improvise, because life is a constant improvisation.
