Marc Copland

Marc Copland

For a while he was considered a “musician’s musician” —Gary Peacock, John Abercrombie, and James Moody were among his many collaborators. But in the last decade or so, Marc Copland has broken through. Current Spotify figures (from September) show a jazz pianist followed by millions. At 75, Copland says that “the “Someday” quartet might be the best band I’ve ever been a part of.” That’s pretty high praise from a charter member of many all-star bands with the likes of Randy Brecker, David Liebman, Joey Baron, Drew Gress, Billy Hart, Peter Erskine, etc.
